After installing StreamBase, you must install its license in order to run the software.
For the StreamBase Developer Edition, a license file is automatically e-mailed to you when you register to download the kit. For the Enterprise Edition, the license file is provided by your StreamBase Systems representative, usually by e-mail, when you purchase the subscription. When each new StreamBase major version is released during your subscription term, you can obtain an updated license file at no additional fee by contacting your StreamBase Systems representative.
The StreamBase license file name is streambase-license.xml. Copy this file to the etc subdirectory of your installation directory. The following
are the license file locations for the default installation directories:
-
On Windows:
C:\Program Files\StreamBase Systems\StreamBase.n.m\etcwhere
.n.mis the StreamBase release number -
On UNIX:
/opt/streambase/etc
If your StreamBase license has expired, please contact your StreamBase Systems representative.
If you have a license file for a previous StreamBase release, you must obtain an updated license file for the new release. Exception: You do not need a new license to update your current version to a maintenance release. For example, updating StreamBase release 6.2.0 to 6.2.2 would not require a new license.
Note
-
If you later uninstall StreamBase, the license file is preserved in the
etcsubdirectory. -
If you install StreamBase over an existing version, the existing version's license file is not destroyed:
-
On Windows, the installation program checks for an existing license file. If the file is found, it is moved to
C:\Documents and Settings\username\streambase-license-existing.xml. -
On UNIX, the existing license file is left in place.
-
Before you copy an updated license file to the StreamBase etc subdirectory, make a backup copy of any previous release's
license file and preserve it in a safe place. Give your backup license file a name that
contains the StreamBase release number it was associated with.
