StreamBase Names Chris Risley As New Chief Executive Officer
Risley To Lead Next Chapter In StreamBase’s Complex Event Processing (CEP) Strategy
BOSTON, MA (USA) / LONDON (UK) August 16, 2007 — StreamBase Systems, Inc., the leader in high-performance Complex Event Processing (CEP), today announced that Chris Risley, a successful serial entrepreneur, has joined the company as Chief Executive Officer. Risley replaces Barry Morris, who has led StreamBase since 2004 and is leaving the company to create a new technology startup.
Risley, a 22-year software business veteran, has previously led four startups resulting in one IPO and three sales to public companies. Most recently, Risley spent five years as CEO of Nominum, Inc., the leading provider of network naming and addressing solutions to the world’s largest carriers.
“I am delighted that we’ve been able to recruit such an experienced and enthusiastic executive to lead the next stage of StreamBase’s rapid growth,” said Morris. “Chris’ background and proven leadership will help StreamBase further scale to support the accelerated market demand that both the company and Complex Event Processing will undergo over the next few years.”
“I’m extremely excited to join StreamBase’s leadership team,” said Risley. “Barry has built a terrific company with customers and partners which include the marquee organizations in financial services, telecommunications, government, and a variety of e-business markets. He also recruited a powerful management team, a world-class technical team, and an expert board of advisors led by the company’s founder, Dr. Michael Stonebraker. I look forward to Barry’s advice as StreamBase continues to drive the future of high-performance Complex Event Processing.”
The award-winning technology behind StreamBase’s Complex Event Processing platform was initially developed in 2001 as a tri-university project at M.I.T., Brown University, and Brandeis University.
