StreamBase Chronicle
One of the biggest challenges in building real-time applications is how to leverage valuable historical data. Increasingly complex quantitative strategies and the explosive growth of market data volumes are driving the need for integrating real-time analysis with historical data storage. It is not uncommon for historical data stores to hold tens or hundreds of terabytes of market data.
StreamBase solves the problem of integrating between streaming event data and historical data with StreamBase Chronicle™, data storage framework for optimal connectivity to high capacity databases and data warehouses including Sybase RAP, Vertica, and IBM's DB2. By enabling the creation of “virtual” data feeds carrying historical data, Chronicle can help quantitative analysts rigorously test their real-time applications and better understand their reaction to the market.
StreamBase Chronicle™ is comprised of two components.
- A bulk loader for moving data from the StreamBase Event Processing Platform to the high capacity database.
- A high-performance adapter for allowing easy retrieval of stored data from within a StreamBase application.

Extending StreamBase’s high performance event processing platform in this way provides a powerful platform on which financial services firms can build strategic real-time applications in the front, middle, and back office. Such applications include:
