PRESS RELEASE
MIT Technology Review names StreamBase as one of the 50 most innovative companies in the world
StreamBase selected for innovation and breakthroughs in processing real-time information
LEXINGTON, MA (USA) — March 3, 2010 — StreamBase Systems, a
leading provider of Complex Event Processing (CEP) technology, announced today
that it has been named to the ‘TR50’ MIT Technology Review’s fifty most
innovative companies in the world. Companies on this list include Amazon.com, Google,
HTC, Hulu, and Twitter. Each company was evaluated based on its business model,
strategies for deploying and scaling up its technologies, and the likelihood of
success.
Earlier
this year the World Economic Forum named StreamBase as a 2010 Technology
Pioneer in recognition of its innovation in information technology.
“In
choosing the TR50, we picked companies with this year’s most important
inventions and breakthroughs. But we also selected companies that are
successfully growing businesses and markets around innovative new products,”
said Jason Pontin, editor in chief and publisher of Technology Review. “The
TR50 list is our selection of companies that show the most impressive
innovation in commercializing new technologies.”

“StreamBase is
playing an important role in the real-time Web by processing vast amounts of
real-time information at very high speed before it can even be stored in a database,”
said David Rotman, editor, Technology Review. “Data processing in real-time is
essential for users in financial services, e-commerce sites, and companies
offering location-based services.”
Richard Tibbetts,
StreamBase’s CTO and co-founder explains that web companies are keen to explore
CEP technology to monitor online behavior in real-time. “One of our customers
is travel site Orbitz.com which processes massive amounts of online behavior
each day. If a customer is purchasing a
plane ticket and receives an error notification, StreamBase can notify the Orbitz
team exactly where the error took place and address it immediately from among
the multitude of online actions in play at any one time. Over time these errors
can be tracked, aggregated and viewed on a dashboard to indicate trends and
provide insights into how to further address any problems. This leads to less
site down-time and increased customer satisfaction which is essential for online
businesses.”
