StreamBase Announces The Da Vinci Coder

Developer Peter M. Murray Builds Award-Winning StreamBase Application For Real-Time Filtering & Prioritizing Of Web-Based Content & Feeds

The Da Vinci CoderBOSTON, MA– October 14, 2006 — StreamBase Systems, Inc., provider of the industry's fastest and most powerful real-time and historical complex event processing (CEP) software, today announced that the $10K grand prize of its “Quest for the Da Vinci Coder” Grand Tournament has been awarded to a New England-based developer named Peter M. Murray. As part of the initiative, Murray has now also been named, “The Da Vinci Coder,” for his StreamBase “MemeFinder” application, which was deemed the most creative submission. Murray's MemeFinder application leverages StreamBase's world-class performance, enterprise-class storage, and standards-based programmability to identify and filter keywords from high-volume, dynamic text content, including RSS feeds, news articles, blogs and emails, and then prioritize and deliver the information based on sophisticated rules established by the end user.

“Congratulations to Peter for being named the Da Vinci Coder – his MemeFinder application is a notable example of how StreamBase's complex event processing capabilities can be applied to address a broad range of real-world challenges with managing and leveraging the growing volume and velocity of real-time data,” said Barry Morris, Chairman and CEO of StreamBase. “As the first company to spearhead an initiative like this within our industry, we've generated ground-breaking results fueled by a tremendous amount of interest about StreamBase's award-winning features and capabilities for building superior real-time stream processing applications.”

The Quest (www.thedavincicoder.com), co-sponsored by AMD (NYSE: AMD), was launched in June 2006 at the SIA show and provided the CEP industry’s first opportunity for programmers, developers, and business people to build the best real-time streaming data application using StreamBase. Developers not only had the opportunity to download and use StreamBase's best-in-class complex event processing software, but also vied for the opportunity to win numerous weekly prizes, the Grand Prize of $10,000, and the title of “The Da Vinci Coder.”

StreamBase also developed a three-minute video parody of "The Da Vinci Code" to reveal the origin of The Quest, which is still available for viewing at (www.thedavincicoder.com). The video provides a humorous portrayal of the challenges faced by skilled software programmers, who typically write custom-code to try and meet rapidly changing business demands for leveraging real-time information. Over 33,000 developers and business users have downloaded the video or Developer Edition of the company's software.
