StreamBase Furthers Leadership Behind Reg NMS & MiFID With Customer-Centric Initiatives For Fueling Best Execution And Compliance

StreamBase Web Seminars, Briefings, And Training Deliver Best Practices And Strategies Around Analyzing High-Volume Market Data For Real-Time Decision Making

BOSTON, MA – February 7, 2007 — StreamBase Systems, Inc. today announced a new set of initiatives focused on providing the financial services community with extended resources to ensure best execution and compliance around Regulation for National Markets (Reg NMS) and Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID). StreamBase, the leading provider of high-performance Complex Event Processing (CEP) software, is delivering a series of web seminars, live briefings, and training workshops for empowering financial services organizations everywhere to drive full regulatory compliance and increased competitive advantage.

"Financial firms are grappling with increased volumes, faster markets, and tighter margins while levels of regulation are increasing," said Paul Pickup, Director at Trading Technology. "Under MiFID, the need for consolidating data from multiple sources will explode with the opening up of competition amongst the European exchanges. Alongside this are strict requirements concerning best execution, pre- and post- trade reporting and risk management across a broad instrument range. The need for high-performance event-driven analytics, such as StreamBase's CEP software, are critical for consolidating data, leveraging real-time analytics and regulatory reporting, ensuring MIFID compliance, and managing risk."

Over the next two months, StreamBase will host the following Reg NMS and MiFID events and workshops:

Reg NMS Web Seminar — On Thursday, February 15th, StreamBase is hosting a Web-based event, Beyond Compliance: Driving Competitive Advantage with Reg NMS. The event will feature a panel of experts including those from Aite Group, Bank of New York, the Chicago Stock Exchange, and StreamBase. The panel will discuss how firms with enhanced and upgraded infrastructures can not only master the intricacies of Reg NMS's best execution compliance requirements, but also capitalize on the opportunities presented by the changing regulatory landscape.

Technology "Prototype-to-Production" Workshops — StreamBase is sponsoring a series of technology workshops to address the need for prototyping streaming data applications that can process and query real-time information, such as those that drive electronic trading and best execution. During these sessions, customers and partners will be able to conceptualize, build, and prototype streaming data applications that can support both Reg NMS and MiFID compliance and best execution. Upcoming workshops are scheduled for February 27th through March 1st in the Washington, D.C. area, and then from March 13th through the 15th in New York City.

"We're currently supporting the Reg NMS and MiFID projects of many global investment banks and hedge funds throughout the U.S. and Europe," said Barry Morris, Chairman and CEO of StreamBase Systems. "Our clients want more from us than just backing up the truck and dumping off software licenses — they view StreamBase as a strategic partner. We work collaboratively to ensure that our clients understand the requirements behind Reg NMS and MiFID and are then able to proceed with confidence. To do so, we're investing in these initiatives to provide the tools, training, and support network they need to move beyond a requirements analysis and into a scalable, repeatable model for fueling continued success."
