StreamBase's Mike Stonebraker Garners Recognition for Trailblazing Cutting-Edge Stream Processing Software
Stonebraker Recognized by InfoWorld Magazine's Editors as a "Top 25" CTO for Pioneering Complex Event Processing & Streaming Data Applications
BOSTON, MA – June 7, 2006 —StreamBase Systems, Inc., the provider of award-winning enterprise-class stream processing software that transforms real-time complex events into instantaneous competitive advantage, today proudly announced that its CTO and co-founder, Dr. Mike Stonebraker has been named to the "Top 25 Chief Technology Officers" list for 2006 by the editors of IDG's InfoWorld Magazine. Stonebraker is featured in the June 5, 2006 issue which highlights his ground breaking work on streaming data analytics software in the Complex Event Processing (CEP) field.
StreamBase System's technology originated from a project led by Stonebraker who commercialized the technology, now known as the StreamBase Stream Processing Engine. StreamBase's software with its next-generation programming language, StreamSQL™, uniquely solves real-time data management problems with an infrastructure platform for capturing, integrating, and reacting to streaming data at speeds up to hundreds of thousands of messages per second or more. With StreamBase, firms in industries such as financial services, e-Business, telecommunications/networking, and government and military can build high-performance, low-latency applications that process and analyze data as fast as it arrives - prototyped within as little as hours. The June 5, 2006 issue of InfoWorld refers to StreamBase as "a company on the cutting edge of CEP (complex event processing) for streaming data."
"Mike is one of the brightest technological minds of our time and we are excited to see his contributions be recognized, especially those behind StreamBase's software," said Barry Morris, Chairman and CEO of StreamBase Systems. "Through Mike's technical leadership, StreamBase continually raises the bar for enterprise-class stream processing applications. It is a great honor for both Mike and StreamBase to be recognized by the editorial staff at InfoWorld."
Stonebraker is a visionary in the field of database management; his leadership and groundbreaking research have resulted in 30 years of innovation in his industry. Today, virtually all business computing applications worldwide manage data using database systems that are built on many of the concepts led by Stonebraker. In addition, he has founded and driven the global product vision for three successful U.S.-based high tech companies. Stonebraker will add this honor to his long list of accolades such as the 2005 IEEE John von Neumann Medal for his significant contributions to the design, implementation and commercialization of relational and object-relational database systems and the ACM System Software Award and the Innovation award by the ACM SIGMOD.
